Lactic Acid Dehydrogenase (LDH) (LD)

This test measures Lactic Acid Dehydrogenase (LDH) in the blood.  LDH is an enzyme found in most cells in the body.  Typically, only a small amount of LDH is detectable in the blood.  When cells are damaged, LDH is released into the blood causing levels to rise.  Measuring LDH levels can indicate if there is tissue damage somewhere in the body. This is a non-fasting test. Expect results in 1-2 business days.
